Core Conversion FAQ

Why is NFFCU completing a core conversion?

We want to continue to offer exceptional service and add more technologically advanced products and services to Members, as well as maximize operational efficiencies. The core conversion is a significant step in accomplishing both goals.

What new products are coming with the core conversion?

Members will be able to sign off on loan documents electronically and will be able to receive e-receipts after transactions with the frontline. Members will also have the opportunity for a more personable experience at the frontline with the introduction of cash recyclers! We will be releasing a fresh, new website and mobile app on May 1!

Will online account opening be available?

Online account opening will be available for incoming members shortly after conversion. Keep an eye on our social media for updates on this!

Will online banking, mobile banking, and online BillPay change?

Will I be able to use my debit card during conversion weekend?

Will I be able to take money out of my account at that during conversion weekend?

Will my information be lost during conversion?

No, the conversion process will not put your money or put your information at risk.

What is not changing after the system upgrade?

Account numbers, routing numbers, checks, debit cards, credit cards, ATM cards and the staff you trust will remain the same after conversion.

Will I be able to access online banking during conversion weekend?

No. Online banking will be unavailable from Saturday, May 1st until Monday morning on May 3rd.

Will I need to re-enroll in mobile banking, online BillPay, and e-statements?

Yes. Members will be required to re-enroll for mobile banking, online Bill Pay, and e-statements. We recommend setting up an appointment with one of our MSRs within the first few weeks in May to assist with re-enrollment.

Name Change FAQ

Why are we changing our name?

In more than 49 years, we have grown from serving only employees of five school districts to those who live, work, worship, or attend school in the four northernmost counties in New York-Clinton, Essex, Franklin, and St. Lawrence counties. We conducted Member surveys in early 2020 and the results indicated that our current name limits our ability to express our services are available to those outside of Franklin County.

Why did you choose the name TruNorthern?

With a charter expansion that now includes the four northernmost counties in NY and after exhaustive research, we chose a name that would be regionally inclusive and welcoming to existing and new Members in the new field of membership. We also wanted a name that remained Tru to our north country values.

How did you select the new logo?

We believe our new logo and brand will separate us from competing financial institutions. The logo is a modern spin on our existing brand that reinforces our 49-year history and our expanding regional influence while incorporating the foothills of the Adirondacks.

Has the credit union been purchased by another financial institution?

No. Your credit union will continue to offer the same great service by the same great people, but with a fresh new name and look.

Will your values and community involvement stay the same?

Yes! The new name is not about outgrowing our roots but staying "Tru to our Members, Tru to our Community, Tru to you since 1972."

When will the name change become official?

The name change will take effect on May 1, 2021.

After the name change, can I continue to use my old NFFCU checks?

Members can continue to use their NFFCU checks. When checks need to be reordered, they will have the new name and logo.

Will my Member number(s) change?

Your Member number(s) and account number(s) will remain the same.

Do I need to change my direct deposit or automatic payments?

All direct deposits, payroll deductions, automatic drafts, and other ACH services are transmitted using the credit union’s routing number and your account number. Since these numbers will not change, your payments will continue to process as normal.

Will my NFFCU debit card work after the name change?

Your current NFFCU debit and credit card will continue to work until its scheduled expiration date, at which point you will receive your new TruNorthern cards.
